WordPress has changed the way we make websites. Today, making websites have become very easy and secure than ever thanks to WordPress. But Automattic ( the team behind WordPress) does not stop here. They want to enter the eCommerce field. For this, they have bought WooCommerce for an undisclosed amount.
This is not the first acquisition by WordPress. In the past, they have bought Gravatar, BuddyPress, IntenseDebate, Polldaddy, Blo.gs, After the Deadline, Plinky and many others mentioned in this article.
According to WPTavern, WooCommerce powers around 30% of all the online stores. So now WordPress has 30% of the eCommerce market. Its a good number and we wish Automattic team best of luck in their journey towards the eCommerce market.
